To my Son | Puyallup Professional Photographer

Today is the day. You are the big one. I can't quite put it in words about how incredibly fast this year has gone by. I have probably sang "Happy Birthday" to you about 10 times since you woke up and I love that every time I begin you look at me with your toothy smile. You probably smile just to make me happy, or maybe because if you think you smile big enough my off key singing will come to a halt...think again son.

You have taught me so much from the moment you were born. You have taught me to not have expectations. Yes, I may have imagined you to have dark hair and eyes like your sister, but out came 7lbs 11oz of blonde hair and blue eyed perfection. I may have expected you to sleep as great as your sister did (ya right!), or I may have expected you to have troubles nursing...well, let's just say we have had zero problems with that (and no end in sight). But never did I expect how much you would make me laugh or how many cuddles you need or how much you love anything with a motor (thank you Ratto gene pool). You have taught me to be patient. Your middle of the night cries for comfort really tested that patience, but I will take in the snuggles while I can. You have taught me that you really do grow up way to fast, but no matter how big you may be getting I still look at you like the newborn baby boy I held 1 year ago from today.

I love the way you look at your sister. I knew from the moment I had you, that you two would be best of friends. Now that you are walking and trying to keep up with her, you two have more fun than ever. Keep laughing and loving. I love both of your laughs. Be sweet to one another (even though you gave her the right hook yesterday for trying to kiss you) and always make up to each other after a fight.

This year has been amazing, full of snuggles, exhausting, eventful and even crazy at times. But, all in all it has been adventurous. Never lose your wonder little man. Climb every mountain until you reach the top. Happy First Birthday Carson Joseph.

It was so much fun getting to capture Vesta's cake smash session! I love seeing little ones reaction when they get a chance to dig in to a delicious cake for their first birthday portraits. Her mommy chose a Frida Kahlo theme for her professional cake smash portrait session. It was so much fun getting to decorate. Let's also take a moment to discuss the AMAZINGLY beautiful cake from Whimsy cakes by Dee. The detail in this cake couldn't have been better. It really tied the whole cake smash theme together.

Mothers Day Adventures - JBLM Family Photographer

My Mothers Day Adventure

I can't even begin to describe how hectic my life can get at times. Don't worry, this isn't going to be a blog entry about "poor me!" or "why me?". This is a blog entry because I wanted to share something a little bit more personal. A little peak into our lives. This last Saturday was fantastic and so so needed. You see,  below in these portraits are the 3 human beings that keep me sane in this crazy life.

Luckily, I have an amazing husband that doesn't blink when I tell him we are going to take a 7 hour round trip drive for family portraits. Life is all about the adventure! This last Saturday we had family portraits taken by Amanda of Lennon Photography who is from Florida! (She rocks!) I had treated myself and had my hair and makeup done by Megan Wills and enjoyed the many compliments from not only my husband but my daughter as well as how pretty I looked. Isn't that the best you guys? Then for our session time...it rained. Who would have thought! I am so glad we were really able to capture the true Washington essence in our portrait session *insert sarcasm here* But seriously, I can't wait to see the final portraits.

On our way home, we made the last minute decision to stop at Ruby Beach. This you guys. The last minute detours are ALWAYS the best. The sun was out and everyone was ready to get out of the car.

It was perfect. Smiles, laughter, ocean running, pirate cave, treasure hunting, white rock searching, log balancing, rock climbing (& eating...carson joseph), trail racing, salty air perfection.

But, I'll let the photo's do the talking...

I was so excited when Miranda contacted me looking for a photographer in the Puyallup area. We discussed her vision for her portraits and I instantly knew of the perfect outdoor location to truly capture the beautiful Washington landscape.

It was so much fun having her come over prior to her session to try on gowns from my handmade gown collection that I offer exclusively to my clients. She is an absolute vision in these gowns that we narrowed down for her to wear for her outdoor maternity session.

Their session was definitely a favorite of mine and I was so honored to have been chosen to be a part of this special time in their lives. Their connection is undeniable! I can't wait to see their beautiful baby.
